I'm just curious as to which among these tools do freelancers love to work with and why.. I'm a freelancer-on-the-go.. so a netbook or iPad works for me best. What's yours?

It is hard to use netbook or laptop if you are developer. I guess it's best choice for writers, translators,... But my choice is a personal computer for most of work and sometimes laptop. Laptop very good at summer, when you can work somewhere in the park, or anywhere else.

I really love the idea about Chromebook, but i guess i need web version of visual studio rde (and mb some others tools) in order to use google laptop. By now VS only desktop app ;).

I think in the future, everything will be cloud-based? It's sometimes scary how you think you have so much control over your data until you lost your net connection, the site crashed, or your account got hacked. Hmm... hope Facebook won't start inventing theirs and call it Bingbook or something..

I use a laptop because I need to feel the keys as a writer. I tried using the iPad2 at an electronics store the other day, but I could not get used to the touch screen. Although it is very addictive, I think tablets like the iPad are good for people that want to surf the internet, check email, and post on their social media sites while not having to lug around a laptop. I think tablets will eventually make netbooks obsolete, but you will still see desktop and laptop computers for the web developers and writers out there.

I have to agree with you on the need to feel the keys; something you can't on an iPad. I wonder if it's psychological though.. like how it felt odd for those using the old typewriters to switch to keyboards until they got the hang of it. Just a thought ;)
